Six Months!

How on earth has it been six months already? He's half way to one year! That's madness!

Size

Again very unscientifically I weighed him to be around 14 or 15 pounds. We'll find out in a couple weeks at the doctor what he really weighs. He is still in some 0-3 month clothes but some clothes he wears are also 9 months... So basically we go with whatever fits!

Sleeping

James still hates taking naps. He does pretty good sleeping through the night and will just wake up once or twice. I finally gave in this last week and started sleep training. It is the worst! But he's been doing pretty good with it. The first night it took an hour, next night 30 minutes, and from then on it's been about 15 minutes with a couple exceptions. Hopefully he will get the hang of this and I won't have to hear him screaming anymore because it seriously breaks my heart every single time.

Eating

Still breastfeeding most of the time and occasionally he will have formula. He absolutely loves his cereal! He just giggles and laughs while eating and I can't get the food in fast enough for him. My mom says he's one of the best eaters she's ever seen. It's adorable! We have him sit with us and eat during lunch and dinner. We gave him some sweet potatoes for his 6 month birthday! He did not like them. Hahaha We'll just keep trying!

He has completely mastered rolling. He can get anywhere he wants to. He's trying to figure out crawling and is pretty good at scooting. He's started to be ok with baths but only if he's sitting up.

5 Months

James is five months old! I can't believe it! This past month went by super fast!! He's going to be 1 before I know it! He keeps getting cuter and cuter every single day. Here's his update!

Size

In my very unscientific way, I weighed him in at around 14 lbs... but I don't think that's really accurate. We'll just have to wait to see what the doctor says next month. Same with his length. He is wearing all sorts of different sized clothing. Some 0-3 months, some 3-6 months, some 6 months. Heck he even wears 9 month pajamas sometimes! He is in size 3 diapers still and hopefully will be for awhile. I love this long skinny boy!

Sleeping

James' sleeping patterns are the worst! He goes to bed around 10:30 every night and then heaven knows what will happen during the night! For the most part he will wake up once and has to be rocked back to sleep and then he'll wake up sometime between 4 and 6 to eat. Sometimes he'll go back to sleep and sometimes he won't. And naps are almost nonexistent. He'll take quick little 30 minute naps throughout the day. Or sometimes they'll be 5 minutes... you never really know. He did take a 2 hour nap the other day. That totally freaked me out! It has never happened. We thought about trying some sleep training, but I couldn't handle the crying so I stopped. I guess if I'm really desperate we can try again. As my sister in law always tells me: You can't spoil a baby!

Eating

Still breastfeeding! And supplementing with formula every now and then. Or if we are away from home he will have formula as well. We started him on rice cereal. The first time he had no idea what was happening, but after that he totally had the swallowing thing down. But he doesn't really like it so we usually only get about 3-4 spoonfuls in before he refuses to eat anymore.

James' Baby Blessing

We blessed our darling baby boy on May 1, 2016. For various reasons we decided to have the blessing at home. One of those reasons was that we felt it was more intimate and special than having it at church. And it definitely was!

I'm so grateful for a wonderful husband who is worthy to hold the priesthood. I know that the blessing he gave James was the same blessing that Christ would give to him. This is such a special knowledge and it brings great comfort to me and will continue to bless my family for eternity!

We had both my family and Brendan's family come and it was so great to see how loved this little boy is by so many people. He cried the entire time he was being blessed right up until they said "Amen" then he was fine. Crazy kid! I think he got a little bit nervous with all the men gathered around him. He sure looked cute in his little outfit though! He looked like a little Newsie! He also cried during pictures with us so here are just some pictures of him! Enjoy the cuteness!

Four Months

James is 4 months old! I can't believe how fast it has gone! At the same time I can hardly remember life without him!

Size

James weighs 12 lbs 15 oz (10%). He is 25 1/2 inches long (70%). His head is 16 inches (10%). So he's still just itty bitty in weight and head, but still very long. He wears 3-6 month clothes. I can't believe he can fit in 6 month clothes. It totally freaks me out. He's supposed to be my little newborn! He is in size 2 diaper, but he is almost ready for size 3 just because of his length.

Sleeping

James hates to sleep unless he's being held. He takes a few naps during the day that range from 10 minutes to 1 hour depending on if he's being held or not. He has started waking up about once at night to eat. He wakes up a few times and just wants his binky. So nights are getting a little bit better, but still not as great as mom would like. James is still in with mom and dad at night. Mommy doesn't like the idea of having him in the other room... Especially because of the whole needing the binky thing at night.

Eating

James eats a ton. It's amazing he's not fatter... We're still breastfeeding, but if he's still hungry we'll give him formula as well. I think he's almost ready to try rice cereal, but I'm going to put it off as long as I can. I love breastfeeding my sweet little boy because we love to cuddle!

James knows how to roll over from his tummy to his back, but doesn't know that he knows how. He just does it by accident occasionally. But he loves to roll around from his back to his tummy. 

James loves going for walks at night with mommy and daddy. With the warm weather we have been going almost every single day! 

Mommy took James alone in the car for the first time this month. It went pretty well except for the screaming baby... We've gone in the car alone 3 times so far! Wahoo!

James has officially been to BYU twice. Future Cougar right here!!

James did not like being at the doctor for his 4 month check up. He was crying almost from the moment we walked in. Poor baby! But he did pretty well with his shots. Not as fussy as last time so that's good! Just a little bit of a fever.
James also went to the grocery store for the first time this month! He just looks around at everything. It's pretty darn cute!
James took his first road trip to Burley, Idaho. Post to follow.

We love James so much! He is so much fun and has the cutest little personality. He is a goofball just like his daddy and kinda shy just like his mommy. People can't decide who he looks like so I guess that means he's a good mix. We just love laughing and playing with this little fella.

Two/Three Month Update

I'm totally awful and forgot to do James' two month update so this is his official two/three month update!

Size

At his 2 month check up James weighed 11 lbs 0 oz (15%). He was 25.5 inches long (95%). His head was 15 inches (15%). He's my tall skinny boy! I wonder where he gets it from?? I don't know what his measurements are now though... I'm guessing he's around 12 lbs now. And I swear he gets taller every single day. He is wearing 0-3 month and 3 month clothes. The onesies are starting to get small on him, but the pants all look huge!! Silly boy! He is officially in size 2 diapers. He's getting so big!

Sleeping

Sleep is still a struggle, but it's getting better very slowly. He will sleep anywhere between 2-5 hours of continuous sleep at night. Then he either attacks his face with his hands and wakes himself up or wants his binkie so I have to either hold his hands down or keep putting his binkie in. If I'm lucky he'll go 10-30 minutes in between these little wake up sessions. This lasts for a couple of hours and then he wants to be held. So I take him upstairs and we cuddle on the couch and I attempt to sleep. Luckily he's not eating at night anymore so I can get a little more sleep than I was before. He takes 4-5 naps a day and they usually last 30 minutes. I am trying to teach him to take 2 longer naps during the day, but it's a work in progress. He takes naps in his crib, but still sleeps with mommy and daddy in his cradle at night. This won't last much longer though because he's getting too big for his cradle!

Eating

James loves to eat! When he gets hungry you know it immediately because he starts screaming and snorting. He's mommy's little piggy! He eats about every 3 hours during the day. Sometimes less and sometimes more. I love that bonding time with my baby! Now that I'm done with school, I let him take as long as he wants to eat unless I have somewhere to be. So feeding sessions sometimes take an hour. I'm ok with it though because I love the cuddle time! He will eat formula if I'm gone or if we are somewhere where I can't feed him.

James officially rolled over on March 30th just before he was 2 months old. He rolled from his back to his tummy, but can't figure out how to roll back over. He has pretty much stopped rolling though. I think he is saying "Been there, done that. Time to move on to walking!"

He was so good during his 2 month shots. He screamed while getting them which of course broke mommy's heart, but stopped as soon as I picked him up. He was fussy that night and had a fever for a couple of days, but that's it! YAY!

James drools constantly and is always soaking wet. We've started putting bibs on him to help keep him dry. I call him the drool monster! 

We blessed him on May 1st. Another post to follow about that!

world! I can't imagine my life without him!

Today I was feeding James and he burped while he was latched on. His little cheeks puffed out and then his eyes got really wide. It was so cute and so funny! I want to remember these little moments forever!

My Incredible Husband

Four years ago today I met my amazing husband. We got set up on a blind date and went out to lunch at Subway. I was so giddy after meeting him and couldn't wait to get to know him better and eventually marry him. Yes, I was one of those love at first sight people... but if you know Brendan at all then you can understand why. He is the most loving and kind people that I know. He is so unselfish and is always ready to serve not only me, but everyone around us. He is so supportive and is always there for me even when it's really hard. Most of all he is so close to our Savior. This man loves God and Christ more than anything. You can feel the Spirit just by being around Brendan. I love listening to him talk and bare testimony of the things that he knows. His quiet strength has gotten us through many hard times. He was and is everything that I could ever want in a husband and father for my children. I am so glad he decided to take a chance on me 4 years ago.
